Kionsom Fall is located at Inanam, the nearest and the only waterfall located about 25 kms or 30-40 minutes drive from the Kota Kinabalu city. The waterfall is
famous among the locals and could be crowded during weekend. This signboard is near the entrance to Mari-mari culture village. End of the road is the Waterfall park.
This is the carpark and some stalls near the entrance.
"Don't throw rubbish anywhere."
The 4 tiers of waterfall are in different types. We followed the cement path to the 1st and 2nd tier.
The 2nd tier fall.
To go to the last tier, we had to scramble up the slope among the 'green' rocks & roots. Becareful of your every step, the rocks and roots could be very slippery.
The narrow path is obvious unless some part is blocked by the fallen trunk. Other than that, it's easy to follow. Comparing to the mountain climate we had few days ago, under here is humid and still, we were sweating heavily.
When we saw the tall last tier from the slope above, we tried to find a route to go down to the stream and there is 1 obvious route. Holded tight at the root and scrambled down the steep slope slowly. Now we have this scenic waterfall view.
We crossed the stream to the opposite and walked near to the fall. There's a small picnic ground. Since today is a working day, so we can enjoy the whole waterfall by our own without pack with the crowd.
Oh, the picture is a bit blur. But from here, you can estimate the height of the fall.
This is main Kionsom Fall. For me, this is the most beautiful tier among the Kionsom Falls.
By following the narrow jungle trail to the upper stream, we only found some mini cascades and 1 abandoned hanging bridge.
