Gurun Kuari Fall

Gurun是一个位于Guar Chempedak与Bedong之间的一个小镇，可使用南北大道前往。“Gurun”在英语里意思是“沙漠”，但这里丝毫看不到沙漠的痕迹。其实Gurun取名自“Gerun”，意为恐怖；又或取自“Kurun”，在泰语方言里意为大象。这两个词可联系到一起历史事故：当时掌权的霹雳苏丹（Sultan Abdullah Muhammad Shah II 1874-1876), 在1876 年泰军入侵时，就在现在的Gurun警察局后，惨遭泰军大象压死。

Gurun是通往Jerai大山（986m）唯一的交通通行入口。Gurun也是全马最长的运河，Wan Mat Saman运河的起点，伸展约36公里一直到Alor Setar市，连接着Gurun河及Kedah河。

在Gurun范围里可找到3座瀑布。

Gurun is a small town and located between Guar Chempedak to the north and Bedong to the south and can be reached via the North-South Expressway, "Gurun" in English means desert, however the town does not desert looks alike. Gurun derived its name from the word "gerun", which means terrify or "kurun" meaning elephant in the Siamese dialect. These words are associated with an incident during the reign of Sultan Abdullah Muhammad Shah II (1874 - 1876 Sultan of Perak), who was killed in 1876 by the invading Thai armies when they crushed his body using an elephant. This incident took place behind the current Gurun Police Station.

Gurun is a transit point to Gunung Jerai (986m）, The town also known for the starting point of Wan Mat Saman Canal, the longest canal in Malaysia with approximately 36 km that stretch out until Alor Setar town, where it connects Gurun River to Kedah River.

Within the Gurun area, there are 3 waterfalls found.

使用1号公路前往Tmn Murni住宅区附近的Gurun净水站。从Gurun净水站前进入旧石矿路，沿着这旧石矿路前进。

Use road no.1 to Taman Murni housing area, the Loji Pembersihan Air Gurun is located nearby here. The trailhead of the dirt road is at the front of the Loji Pembersihan Air Gurun （Gurun ·Water Filtering Station). Follow the dirt raod, this an old mining road.

我们把车停在一座小桥的不远处，这时已看到一个警告牌。我们不曾来过这，猜想这里准没错是Gurun河及瀑布的入口处了。

We stopped near a bridge and saw a caution signboard. We never been here before and guessed this is the Sungai Gurun and the entrance to the Gurun Kuari Waterfalls.

路口竖立个警示牌说明这里是危险地区。这里曾发生数宗溺毙案，最轰动的莫过于五姐妹共赵黄泉的一案。为了安全起见，特别叮嘱队友们不许在此游泳。

A warning signboard at the entrance stated this is dangerous area. Several fatal drown cases had been happened, the saddest is the case which had took 5 sisters away. Therefore, members are prohibited to swim here.

Gurun Kuari第一层瀑布就在入口处不远。相信这里就是事发地点。

The 1st tier of Gurun Kuari Fall located not far from the entrance. Think this is the place where the tragedy took place.

回到山径，我们往山坡上走去。一路上还好有扶手，走在湿滑的输水管上才不至于太困难。

Back to the trail, we went to upslope direction. Lucky there is hand rail along the way, make our trip easier especially walking on the slippery water pipe.

第三层瀑布。这条河上的每一层瀑布都有宽又深的水池。

The 3rd tier. Looks like every tiers own a big deep pool.

第四层瀑布。

The 4th tier.

在小径的尽头是一座小堤坝。从这里开始输送净水到山脚的净水站处理。
